When I first came across the Stellar Rocktanium range, sold to me as ‘a harder, more durable non-stick’, they sounded too good to be true. Scratch-resistant, and suitable for all hobs, including induction, I was intrigued.
I’m a cooking fiend – whether it’s cakes or curries, pastas or pizzas, I love trying new recipes and putting my abilities, patience, and pans to the test. What appealed to me about Rocktanium was the idea that you can cook using far less oil given the strength of the new-strength titanium (Quantanium) and aluminium base, which also means easier cleaning.
So the challenge would be testing the Rocktanium against something that sticks like… well, sticks like something that’s been hard-fried in a traditional pan.
My two sticking-nemeses – fried egg, and steak and onion burgers.
However, using only a table spoon of oil, the resulting residue looked like this (and cleaned off very easily).
Safe to say, I’m suitably impressed. Aside from being an exceptional non-stick and using a small amount of oil, the heat distribution is fantastic, cooking everything evenly even on the edges of the pan (especially the delicious Steak and Onion Burgers from Middlemass Butchers, Langholm).
A personal recommendation would be to use the Rocktanium range with silicone utensils like the one pictured. The Rocktanium and ColourWorks ranges are both available in store and make a great partnership.
